STUDY HABITS FOR STUDENT'S SUCCESS
✅Set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) students often set academic goals, but they might not be specific or measurable. For example, a student might say, "I want to pass my exams." A more SMART goal would be, "I want to score at least 80% in my upcoming first semester examination by studying for 2 hours every day, 5 or 6 days a week, for the next 3 months. This goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
✅Create a Study Schedule and Stick to It. Students often have a lot of responsibilities, such as household chores or having a side hustle. To succeed, students need to create a study schedule that takes into account their other responsibilities. For example, a student might decide to study from 4 pm to 6 pm every day, after finishing their household chores.
✅ Use Active Learning Techniques, students often learn through lectures and note-taking. However, research has shown that active learning techniques, such as summarizing, self-quizzing, and elaboration, are more effective for retaining information. For example, a student might summarize their notes in their own words, or create flashcards to quiz themselves on key terms.
✅Review Notes Regularly
students often have a lot of material to cover. To succeed, students need to review their notes regularly, rather than trying to cram all their studying into one night. For example, a student might review their notes for 30 minutes every day, or dedicate one day a week to reviewing all.
